Some suggestions on what to do in and around Kamp-Bornhofen.

For your physical fitness, our village provides you with an outdoor swimming pool right next to the river (50m from our hotel) as well as tennis courts.

Going for a walk to Bornhofen and visting the monastery as well as the Castles Liebenstein and Sterrenberg, called "Feindliche Brüder" (Hostile Brothers), is compulsory, of course. You will be rewarded with a tremendous view of the peak of the Hunsrück and Taunus as well as the romantic Middle Rhine Valley. (Castle Sterrenberg is part of our hotel.)

If you are interested in what life was like on the Rhine in the old days you should visit the Rafter and Mariner-Museum in the town hall. The tourist information will be happy to provide you with more details.

rheinsteig.jpg The Rheinsteig and Rheinhöhenweg on both sides of the Rhine certainly are a welcome challenge for any hiking enthusiast, as is the nature trail with its numerous sign-boards between Kamp-Bornhofen and Pilsen.

The life of the knights are presented in a very unique manner on Marksburg in Braubach (12 km). Guided tours are available all day during season.

The medieval eagle and falcon yard at Castle Maus provides shows of falcons, kites, milans, white-tailed eagles and other birds of prey.

The world famous chair museum Thonet, the chair lift to "Vierseenblick" (Four Lake View) and much more is offered by the city of Boppard on the other side of the Rhine.

Koblenz (24 km) invites you to a shopping expedition. At the confluence of Rhine and Moselle Emperor Wilhelm hails you from the "Deutsches Eck".

Fortress Ehrenbreitstein as well as many other old churches and buildings are worth a visit.

One-of-a-kind along the Rhine is the old customs castle Pfalzgrafenstein. Situated in the middle of the river near Kaub (25 km) it is simply called "Die Pfalz".

umgebung_kamp.jpg Many palaces, castles and the Loreley are easily accessible by foot, by car or by special trips with ships of the Loreley-line Weinand. Tickets are for sale in our hotel. We do offer late night and early morning trips, of course, as well as tours to the Moselle.
